HIIT Cardio

Happy Friday! The weekend is a time to indulge and relax but I always feel guilty if I haven’t worked out a few times during the week. Certainly doesn’t help I can get bored with my workouts. Does anyone else get bored easily with your workout routine?

I’m aiming to do cardio one day a week and focus on distance I ran or steps taken vs amount of time. To help with this I like to use the HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) method for runs.

HIIT is proven to burn more calories while you workout and over the next 24 hours after exercising. Alternating between fast high intensity pace intervals to lower pace or compete rest, HIIT can be used for any form of cardio. Example would be to sprint a minute, rest 30 seconds, then sprint for a minute, rest 30 seconds, repeating until desired.

Since this changes up based on how long you set intervals for, you’ll be more likely to stick to it. Especially when we have to keep cardio inside due to weather, HIIT makes cardio fun! Yes I said fun, it challenges yourself, boosts your endurance, and can be down anywhere without equipment. Also is great to strengthen your heart and contributing to overall great health.
